Kobuk Valley is Alaska's most preserved national park, a land of solitude untouched by modern society. You won't find any man made trails here, only trails carved by nature. Kobuk Valley is renowned for world class fishing and the largest sand dunes in the Arctic.

Located inside of Kobuk Valley National Park is Onion Portage Archeological site. This area is known to the locals as Paatitaaq, or Onion Portage, because of the wild onions that grow along the riverbanks. Archeologists have discovered 9 different cultures here that date back more than 10,000 years ago. Thousands of caribou migrate through Onion Portage each year.
