the flights
Traveling to O.P.A. from Anchorage requires two bush flights. The first stretch is from Anchorage to Kotzebue, then Kotzebue to O.P.A.'s base camp, Ambler. Alaska airlines offers jet service from Anchorage to Kotzebue from Ted Stephens International Airport. Continuing from Kotzebue to Ambler you have several small airline options. Raven Air and Bering are some of the larger carrier options, while Eagle Air, Back Country Air, and several other Alaskan bush plane charters are also available. Travelers are encouraged to pack light for air travel.
